Thrive for Girls is about helping girls get an advantage in life.  Our coaching team offer a range of services all designed to help girls understand themselves, make great choices and prepare to step up and give life the best that they have to offer.  We exist to support girls to be the best that they can be.

Our team are all qualified professionals and the content provided to students is of the highest standard.

The programmes at Thrive are not available at High Schools, our programmes are not part of school curriculum but are written by the Thrive coaching team who are aware of what is offered in High Schools.

MARINA SHEARER
BSc. Psychology

Diploma of Professional Coaching
Master Trainer Extended DISC
 
Qualifications

Marina studied psychology at the University of Canterbury and received her Diploma of Coaching through the Southern Institute of Technology.   She also holds a qualification in business communication from Trinity College and is a Master Trainer for Extended DISC.  Currently Marina is studying for her Diploma in Career Management from NMIT.

Experience

Marina is an entrepreneur, she recently sold an online horticultural business she set up in 2000 with her husband.  She has 15 years experience with NZ Institute of Management as a speaker and is now a facilitator for MHREC (mental health resource and education centre). Marina and husband Craig have 3 children, 1 recently graduated from UC and their twins are currently in High School 

Support

Marina has a strong network of supporters behind her including teachers, nurses and mental health workers, she will draw on her connections with these supporters should the need arise. She also participates in Coaching Supervision for her own professional development.

Qualifications

Jo studied at Nelson Aviation College and gained her Commercial Pilot’s licence.

She is currently working towards a Diploma in Career Management through NMIT.

She is also a trained Mentor for the Big Brother Big Sister programme.

Experience

Jo started her working life in Financial Services and has been involved in this industry for 30 years with a key focus on people development.

During this time Jo, along with her business partner established People Power Training Company that provided Leadership and Coaching programs for medium to large-sized businesses across NZ.

Support

Jo has a strong network of business owners,  senior managers, teachers and coaches and she will draw on these connections to further support the development of herself and others when the need arises.

CHRISTINE MUTCH

Qualifications

Christine studied Geography at Victoria University, received her Diploma of Teaching through Christchurch College of Education and is an extended DISC practitioner. As well as her professional interests in coaching people and teams, she’s on the Council of GFS - a trust providing tertiary scholarships and mentoring to young women in the Wellington region.

Experience

Christine's worked in people-development roles for over 25 years in the education, public, private and community sectors. She loves people and helping organisations, teams and individuals understand their potential and take practical steps to initiate positive change. She’s also the mother of three fantastic children - including two teenagers.   

Support

One of the things Christine loves about working in the Wellington market is the collaborative and creative ways businesses work together and she both feeds into this and draws from it as the need arises.

HANNAH MCMANUS
Bachelor of Communication
& Media Studies
M.A. English Literature 
 
 
Qualifications

Hannah completed a Bachelor of Communication and Media Studies majoring in Journalism and Professional Writing at the University of Wollongong. She also has a Master of Arts in English Literature via the University of New England. Hannah is also a trained ESOL Home Tutor with English Language Partners New Zealand, providing English-language support to former refugees and migrants. Hannah is a certified practitioner for Extended DISC.

Experience

Hannah’s professional history spans across a range of industries, including legal services, furniture, and tourism, with digital marketing and professional writing as her areas of expertise. She is also a passionate creative writer and has published an original fiction piece in The Australian Times Unearthed Fiction magazine.

Awards

Hannah’s ability to produce high quality scholarship applications has resulted in her personal receipt of two academic scholarships during her tertiary study. Hannah received a $5,000 Work Integrated Learning Scholarship at the Illawarra Mercury in 2012, providing her with newsroom experience and a portfolio of news articles and feature pieces written to a readership of over 65,000 people. She is also a recipient of a Commonwealth Supported Place for her master’s degree, which is a partial subsidy scholarship funded by the Australian Government."
